Accessible Tours

 

The Hartman Rock Garden is committed to ensuring that all people can access and enjoy Ben Hartman’s art. With the guidance from our Accessibility Task Force, we have developed the following accessible tours. These programs were created with support from the Ohio Arts Council.

Touch-Assisted Guided Tour

Our touch-assisted tour is a guided tour experience for visitors who are blind or have low sight. One of our trained and knowledgable guides will examines Ben Hartman’s remarkable art through ten representative objects. The experience is based on our guided Signature Tour. The guide will discuss each object’s history and significance, along with a detailed visual descriptions. Each stop also has a touch component, which includes concrete casts of Ben’s original art, scaled models of larger art objects, and rock and other materials that Ben sourced in the construction of the environment. Highlight Self-Guided Tour with Visual Descriptions

This version of our Highlight Tour includes detailed visual descriptions for visitors who are blind or have low sight. Like the original, it examines the Hartman Rock Garden through ten representative objects. This tour can be enjoyed either using a website narrator or with the assistance of a friend or colleague.
